Note: Weingasts were not found in the earliest Pöggstall, Weiten or Traunstein parish records. Benedict's marriages were not found in Kottes Parish between 1647-1656, nor were there any additional children found back through 1650. There appears to be a relationship between Benedict & Paul Weingast as the former acted as a witness to Paul's wedding. It is likely that they are brothers and that Sebastian is also Benedict's father. Note that Benedict later resided in Schmalzau where Sebastian also lived. As noted above, Benedict and Elisabeth Weingast were found residing in Kirchschlag in the earliest available Grundbuch. There was no Benedict and Elisabeth Weingartner located there, which was the surname under which each of their children were baptized. Georg's first marriage entry identifies his parents as Benedict and Maria Weingast rather than Weingartner as well. No available Inventursprotokoll sheds light on the question of the difference in surnames. Benedict and his family appear to have moved from Kirchschlag to Schmalzau in about 1658/1659.
