Catharina Hainitz

Church Record: Death Book 1, n.pag., Heiligenblut Parish, Lower Austria, Austria; St. Pölten Diocese Archives; Laufenegg 6.

Note: Catharina's age was not recorded at the time of her death; it was noted that she was single. The name of her mother was also not recorded. Catharina was not found on the Inventory Protokols of Christoph Hainitz's wives who died prior to her, and therefore it has been assumed that she was the daughter of Francisca Buchberger, and most likely died very young.

Joseph Buchberger

Church Record: Marriage Book A, 1747-1784, p. 72, Raxendorf Parish, Lower Austria, Austria; St. Pölten Diocese Archives. (Appears as a parent in this record.)

Note: Elisabeth's place of residence that was interpreted as "Dollendorf." It is similar in spelling to a locality called Mollendorf, which is very close to Weiten.

Mathias Hainitz

Church Record: Baptism Book 4, 1730-1784, p. 45, Weiten Parish, Lower Austria, Austria; St. Pölten Diocese Archives.

Note: Mathias was illegitmate.

Johann Gföller

Church Record: Death Book B, 1784-1813, p. 70, Raxendorf Parish, Lower Austria, Austria; St. Pölten Diocese Archives; Steinbach 3.

Civil Record: Kaufprotokoll, 26 Jun 1771, KG-Krems, Herrschaft Pöggstall - Oberranna 173, book 59, p. 52; NÖLA, St. Pölten, Austria. (This entry documents the purchase of a small house in the Trastall Amt in 1771 from Stephan & Magdalena Langinger. It has a witness linked to Niederranna.)

Civil Record: Grundbuch, three entries -- n.d. through 1803, KG-Krems, Herrschaft Pöggstall 173, book 12, p. 581v; NÖLA, St. Pölten, Austria. (Johann Gföhler & Catharina owned Steinbach 3; previous owner was Peter & Magdalena Zobtl; following the death of Catharina, Maria Anna acquired the house through marriage to Johann, 12 Sep 1789; Maria Anna remarried as a widow, and the new husband, Michael Schnabl, acquired the house, 1803. Johann and Catharina do not appear to have moved to Steinbach until after 1775 as they had a child on August 24th of that year in Amstall 12.)

Civil Record: Inventurprotokoll, 12 Aug 1789, KG-Krems, Herrschaft Pöggstall--Oberranna 173, book 26, n. pag.; NÖLA, St. Pölten, Austria.

Note: Johann's surname was also rendered Gföhler and Gföllner. He was a shoemaker and farmer in Steinbach and was very poor. Johann reportedly married at age 50 years in 1789 and died at age 70 years in 1803; his approximated year of birth is based on these dates and his parent's marriage date. Baptismal records do not exist in Kottes Parish from 1723-1770. The prior owners of Steinbach 3 were Peter and Magdalena Zobtl, which appears to be the surname of Katharina's eldest surviving child in 1789. Birth, marriage and death records were searched in Raxendorf Parish looking for Catharina's possible prior husband by the name of Zottl or Zobtl, but nothing was found. Only two Gföller enteries were located in Mühldorf-Niederranna Parish baptism, death or marriage books (Johann's two daughters by Catharina Hammer).

Catharina Hammer

Church Record: Baptism Book 2b, 1691-1759, p. 83, Brand bei Gföhl Parish, Lower Austria, Austria; St. Pölten Diocese Archives.

Church Record: Death Book B, 1784-1813, p. 70, Raxendorf Parish, Lower Austria, Austria; St. Pölten Diocese Archives; Steinbach 3.

Civil Record: Inventurprotokoll, 12 Aug 1789, KG-Krems, Herrschaft Pöggstall--Oberranna 173, book 26, n. pag.; NÖLA, St. Pölten, Austria.

Civil Record: Kaufprotokoll, 26 Jun 1771, KG-Krems, Herrschaft Pöggstall--Oberranna 173, book 59, p. 52; NÖLA, St. Pölten, Austria.

Civil Record: Grundbuch, three entries -- n.d. through 1803, KG-Krems, Herrschaft Pöggstall--Oberranna 173, book 12, p. 581v; NÖLA, St. Pölten, Austria. (Johann Gföhler & Katharina purchased house, n.d. [presumably 1771]; following the death of Katharina, Maria Anna acquired the house through marriage to Johann, 12 Sep 1789; Maria Anna remarried as a widow, and the new husband, Michael Schnabl, acquired the house, 1803.)

Maria Magdalena Zottl Gföller

Church Record: Baptism Book 2-5, 1771-1784, p. 1, Kottes Parish, Lower Austria, Austria; Stift Göttweig Archives. (Note: Magdalena was an illegitimate child.)

Civil Record: Inventurprotokoll, 12 Aug 1789, KG-Krems, Herrschaft Pöggstall--Oberranna 173, book 26, n. pag.; NÖLA, St. Pölten, Austria. (Appears as a child in this entry.)

Note: Magdalena was an illegitimate child. Her mother's Inventurprotokoll identifies Magdalena's surname as Zotl (also rendered Zobtl & Zäbl). She was 15 years of age and single at this time, so it appears that her father was someone by the name of Zotl.

Mathias Hainitz

Church Record: Death Book 4, 1730-1784, p. 133, Weiten Parish, Lower Austria, Austria; St. Pölten Diocese Archives.

Civil Record: Inventursprotokoll, 8 Jan 1706, KG-Krems, Herrschaft Pöggstall 173, book 86, p. 386; NÖLA, St. Pölten, Austria. (Appears as a widower in this entry.)

Church Record: Baptism Book 3, 1698-1730, p. 243, Weiten Parish, Lower Austria, Austria; St. Pölten Diocese Archives. (Appears as a parent in this entry.)

Note: Mathias reportedly died at age 80 years. He may have moved from Zehentegg to Laufenegg in 1694 with his first marriage, but this is not certain. No Hainitz family members were located in Maria Laach am Jauerling Parish baptismal records 1624-1680 (1628-1635 baptisms missing) nor from 1707-1719. Zehentegg was a part of Maria Laach am Jauerling during this time period. Michael Maurer & Barbara of Troibetsberg witnessed all of Mathias & Maria's children's baptisms and known marriages. Michael does have a younger sister by the name of Maria, but she appears to be born several years too early to be Mathias' wife as it would have required Maria to bear her last child at age 52 1/2 years. No Hainitz/Kainitz enteries were located in Mühldorf-Niederranna Parish baptism, death or marriage books.
